With an incredibly distinctive stage name, and sensational vocals, SPELLLING blew the crowd away at her Bristol show as she embarked on her UK and European tour.

Originally from California, SPELLLING – or Chrystia ‘Tia’ Cabral – has created a sound you simply can’t get enough of, and her live performances truly bring her songs to life.

Opening the show was none other than Debby Friday – the alternative dance-pop artist from Toronto you need to know! She was the perfect choice, as she made sure she warmed up the crowd and prepared them for what was to come.

Friday blended electronic, alternative, and experimental elements, delivering an impressive performance packed with pulsing beats and deep bass. A standout moment was when she made her way into the crowd, seducing the audience with her addictive, mesmerising sound.

Then came SPELLLING herself, stepping out onto the stage in a baby tee and a tartan skirt studded with safety pins.

She kicked things off with her hit Keep It Alive, immediately showcasing her knack for catchy hooks, fusing grungy textures with a pop vibe. Like Debby Friday’s performance, SPELLLING’s set was rich in sonic layers and the constant shifts in dynamic kept the audience on their toes, always wondering what would come next.

As the night continued, the Californian performed a variety of tracks from her latest album, Portrait of My Heart, as well as fan-favourites from her previous album The Turning Wheel.

The show eventually came to a close with Boys at School – a fitting 7-minute finale that fully encapsulates SPELLLING’s quintessential sound. The song starts slow and dramatically builds into an emotional, percussive track.

There’s no denying it – SPELLLING is seriously pushing the boundaries of electronic and alternative pop.

With such poetic lyricism and an unmistakable sound, her performance felt like stepping into an otherworldly realm – a world entirely of SPELLLING’s making.

  • I’m Chloe (She/Her) an events and portrait photographer based in Bristol. I’ve always had a strong interest in photography much before choosing to study it at Falmouth University. I have vivid memories of setting up a makeshift studio in my garage, using bedsheets and rope with LED lights purchased off Amazon, getting my sister and friends to model for me. This sparked my creative flare and made me want to learn how to turn my passion into a full-time job. Looking forward, I have high aspirations for my work, I’m currently working towards becoming a full-time freelance photographer, shooting events and portraits, and showcasing to other female photographers, it’s possible to make it in this heavily male dominated industry, inspiring young women who are currently building their make shift studios with their bedsheets and rope.
