Sophie Ellis-Bextor kicked off her third gig of her UK and Ireland tour in Glasgow, with an energetic, showstopping performance full of bright colours and pop classics. For this tour, she is joined by Australian duo Sumner who blend light ethereal vocals with synth heavy beats.
Kicking off her show, Ellis-Bextor immediately encouraged the crowd to get up and dance, playing Take Me Home (A Girl Like Me) from her debut album, Read My Lips, which has garnered international success over the years, cementing her place in the disco pop sphere.
Ellis-Bextor was quick to address the adoring crowd, creating a warm environment, as she took a moment to share some fun facts she knew about Glasgow, which has become a staple at every city she visits. During this time, she introduced her band and told us about her husband, Richard Jones, who plays bass on every tour. She reminisced about her very first tour, where they met, explaining, ‘It was love at first sight, and now we are approaching our 20th wedding anniversary.’

Ellis-Bextor then introduced her next song, Taste, a single from her upcoming album, Perimenopop, scheduled for release on the 12th of September this year. Described as ‘a celebration of [her] love affair with pop-disco,’ after being told throughout her career that pop music was ‘only for young people’, Ellis-Bextor tells us loud and clear that she wants to ‘break that barrier’ and make it accessible to all.
Before the show, fans had the opportunity to take pictures in a photo booth, which was displayed across the screens on stage during Me and My Imagination, creating a touching moment between fans and the artist.

Keeping the crowd on their toes, Ellis-Bextor created a dance sequence for the audience to try during Hypnotised, as well as fun covers of Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! by ABBA and Crying at the Discotheque by Alcazar in Ellis-Bextor’s classic Pop/Club style.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor phenomenally closed her show, playing Get Over You and her signature track, Murder on the Dancefloor, to a roaring crowd.
Her tour is set to continue across the UK and Ireland, concluding on the 12th of June at the London Royal Albert Hall to a sold-out crowd – get tickets while you still can!
