South Arcade transported the crowd back to the Y2K with their electric show at SWG3 on Sunday night. Fans were in for a treat getting a preview to unreleased music, and a mosh pit featuring guitarist Harry Winks. If anything, it was a gig to remember.

Opening the show was alternative rock band STONE, who got the crowd hyped with their powerful stage presence. The five piece hailing from Liverpool played fan favourites MONKEY SEE MONKEY DO and SWEET HEROINE, which got the crowd jumping.

STONE announced their sophomore album in October, which is set to be released in February, followed by an EU & UK tour, where the band will play Glasgow’s famous King Tut’s on the 4th of April. If this support slot was anything to go by, it’s a show not to miss.

After a short wait, South Arcade then took to the stage with their sold-out crowd waiting for them. They opened with FEAR OF HEIGHTS, a track they released back in July. Harmony, the lead singer, interacted with the crowd as she jumped across the stage in sync with the music.

One thing South Arcade never fail to bring is their energetic stage presence. They have the crowd in the palm of their hands from the get-go.

They kept the party going with tracks Supermodels, Nepo Baby and the TikTok viral DANGER, which the crowd knew to chant the lyrics to. South Arcade have a unique sound, mixing the 2000’s with modern influences from the likes of Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit. There’s a nostalgic feel in their music, which fans love. DANGER was released back in 2023, but the song has only recently blown up in the past year, with it now holding nearly 12 million Spotify streams alone.

South Arcade also gave fans a performance of two tracks, Bleed Out and Blood Run Warm, which were released as part of their PLAY! EP on Friday 28th November. Since the show took place before its release, it was an exciting opportunity for fans to get to hear them before the world did. Blood Run Warm is an emotional track which features South Arcade’s more vulnerable and raw side. With Harmony’s angelic vocals, it’s a heartfelt track and hearing it live was no exception. The atmosphere was instantly brought back to its chaotic feel when the band played Bleed Out, a funky upbeat track.

It’s worth noting the crowd’s part in making this show so memorable, as it was mosh pit after mosh pit. With South Arcade’s high-energy tracks, it’s no surprise the crowd were consistently on their feet. The band’s guitarist Harry Winks even joined in on one whilst surprisingly still managing to play in time with the track.

The show ended with classics Stone Cold Summer, and 2005, both upbeat, both nostalgic and both had me wishing they could just do the whole show again.

Overall, the band really gave it their all as they closed the show, and definitely did transport the crowd back to 2005. A few weeks ago, the band were announced to be playing the Sunday date of TRNSMT, so if you’re having post-concert depression like myself, you can count on seeing them back in Glasgow very, very soon.
