Review by Kyle Horne.

With their natural chemistry and polished stage presence, it’s easy to see why Remember Monday represented the UK at Eurovision this year and earned a top 10 spot in the jury vote – and why they were a smart last-minute addition to TRNSMT’s line-up, announced just three days before the festival. This energy was evident from the moment they took the stage.

Kicking off their set with what the girls bathroom is for, the trio set the tone for a fun weekend to be had at TRNSMT. The track is a modern girl-power anthem, layered with foot-stomping drums and their signature fusion of country and pop.

Their sound was matched by a distinct sense of style. Each member wore their own standout outfit: Charlotte Steele wore a ruffled dress, while fellow bandmate Lauren Byrne paired a baby tee with long, tasselled trousers that danced every time she moved. They did, however, colour match each other’s outfits, with each containing a hint of lavender.

After the first track, Holly-Anne Hull took a moment to connect with the crowd, expressing her gratitude for them being there:

“I can’t tell you how happy we are that there are human beings here!” she laughed.

“We seriously convinced ourselves not one human was going to turn up, because who the heck knows who we are?!”

She pointed at the crowd: “This is amazing. Thank you!” before they jumped into the ever-so-infectious foot stomper, Who You Are, from their most recent EP, Crazy Anyway.

Despite being on the biggest stage in all of Europe just this May, with over 166 million viewers across 37 countries, it’s clear they haven’t let it faze them and are still as humble as they were when they started – which is a really refreshing touch.

Over the duration of their 30-minute performance, they sang a mix of songs that got the crowd swaying, dancing, and clapping their hands – including a Happy Birthday chant for their drummer, Laura. Although the audience already included fans – one sporting a Eurovision-branded hat – it grew much bigger when they performed their own rock-infused mashup of Please Please Please by Sabrina Carpenter and Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan.

Their impressive stage presence isn’t surprising… this trio is full of natural talent, both for dancing and singing. They’re also all West End trained – Lauren Byrne starred in Matilda at the Cambridge Theatre, Holly-Anne Hull starred in The Phantom of the Opera at His Majesty’s Theatre, and Charlotte Steele made her West End debut at just 10-years-old in Mary Poppins at the Prince Edward Theatre – so they’ve got everything to offer, and more – all it takes now is spreading the word, and their TRNSMT debut is a brilliant start.
