Nearing the end of last week, Sunderland-born Tom A. Smith officially kicked off his tour around the UK with a powerful high-energy gig at the world renowned King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut.

Hunnybuzz

Supporting Tom on tour is Bristol indie four-piece Hunnybuzz, who met in college in 2020 and have been gigging ever since.

Their rock tracks got the crowd amped up for the night ahead, and their humour was also a hit. Their drummer Ben had his own “teleshopping” section of the set, advertising their merch. For most grassroots bands, this is their main source of income as travelling all around the country has a heavy price tag attached. He joked lead singer Lyd ‘wanted a yacht’ and he wanted a private jet, while he humorously advertised band tees: “Confidence on cotton – priceless, but today £20!”.

They were a great band to get introduced to, and I’m sure they left Tut’s with new fans.

Then it was time for 21-year-old newcomer Tom A. Smith – the act everyone was waiting for. After an introduction from his excellent band, the singer stepped on stage with rock swagger, before kicking into hit Let’s Go Dancing, hyping the crowd with his unique indie sound. He also performed brand new track SFX which was released only days prior.

Known for his retro vibe, Tom’s recent video I Don’t Blame You has similar visual effects to Peter Gabriel’s Sledgehammer.

And that’s not all from Tom. His brand new EP Put On A Record Tommy has just been announced, and is due for release 12th June 2026. Limited vinyl available here.
