Announcing the deluxe edition of their debut album Everything Every Single Day (set for release on 8th May) The Rions have kickstarted their refreshed era with their powerful new single Idol.
The track is underpinned by Tom Partington’s punchy drums and incredibly catchy guitar riffs (Harley Wilson and Asher McLean), with the band stating that the opening riff was played on repeat during their soundchecks due to how much they adored it. You can’t fault them for it though, the guitars are undeniably the defining feature of the song, helping to take it to dizzying new heights.

The Australian four-piece somehow always manage to create something that’s relatable to the masses while firmly cementing themselves as key members of the indie-rock scene, with them even achieving critical acclaim from huge platforms including Triple J and Clash.
The newest addition to their discography, Idols, is a track built for radio with lead singer and bassist Noah Blockley’s vocals adding a touching warmth which many other bands struggle to replicate. There’s a certain lovesickness behind Idols that his voice really helps to exemplify – love is a powerful thing no matter how brief your encounter is with it. Then, the group vocals come in and the song truly comes into its own with listeners being able to easily dance along to what the quartet have crafted.
Following along a similar vibe that songs like Physical Medicine has created, Idols is a track that is memorable well after the closing note has rung out. The Rions are sitting on the edge of something brilliant and exciting, and their upcoming UK and Europe shows will help to firmly cement it.
