Earlier this month, the spotlight was firmly on FINNEAS.
The American singer-songwriter – and Billie Eilish’s brother – kicked off his For Cryin’ Out Loud! tour in old London Town, at Eventim’s Hammersmith Apollo.
With FINNEAS’ name in giant red letters above the Apollo doors, and a queue that had formed since the early hours of the morning, the stage was set for an exciting night in the city.
Supporting FINNEAS on tour this time around was British alternative/folk musician Hohnen Ford, who took to the piano not long after doors had opened. During My Return Ticket (Rat Song), Ford’s hauntingly beautiful vocals filled the entire room, drawing in the crowd, almost like she was singing a lullaby. The audience was transported to a magical world of peace and tranquillity, but by the end of the song, the crowd snapped back into the moment, greeting Ford with thunderous applause.

Ford’s track I Wish I Had A God also received a particularly big response, with the Apollo illuminated by phone torches. The entire room fell silent; the audience taken aback by her unbelievable talent for singing and songwriting.
Just off supporting Orla Gartland on tour weeks prior, and previously supporting Wasia Project last year, Ford’s FINNEAS show is one in a long line of support slots, preparing the 27-year-old for her own, much-deserved, headline tour, set for early summer 2025. With artistry similar to Ashe, Genevieve Stokes and Jacob Alon, big things are coming for Ford this year.
Then, after a short break, and once the lights had dimmed, a figure revealed himself from the darkness, waving to the crowd. And there he was – FINNEAS stepped on stage and sat down at the piano.

Dressed in a sleek black suit, the singer kicked straight into Starfucker, the opening track from his brand-new album. The nonchalant, calm arrangement soon picked up near the second chorus, as FINNEAS’ band then took the stage, providing drumbeats, haunting synths, and overall, a dramatic lift in production, rendering the track a perfect, powerful opener.
Afterwards, FINNEAS stepped away from the piano, waving once more at the crowd like the true charmer he is, before he slung his guitar over his shoulder and headed straight into his infectious pop track, Lotus Eater. Like FINNEAS’ other new material, there’s a hint of vintage inspiration behind it, and the production is pared back.

Live, though, his band was powerful. They brought each song from the new record to life, casting an even bigger light on the writing, making it all the clearer how much of his soul FINNEAS had poured into the record, both lyrically and sonically.
In typical FINNEAS fashion, his entire set carried a vintage vibe – he was the showman; the entertainer of the evening, dressed smartly in a suit. It’s certainly not new, with FINNEAS wearing a suit in his music video debut back in 2017 with I’m in Love Without You.
Something not unnoticed was the presence of his vintage-style wired microphone, only adding to the nostalgic vibe, encouraging the charismatic performer to stay centre stage and play into the romantic feeling of live music. Fans cheered as he leaned into the mic, giving the performance an old-Hollywood feel.

FINNEAS’ tongue-in-cheek humour was also a highlight, where he gave parents, boyfriends and girlfriends alike a mention:
“Anyone here against their will, as a chaperone?” questioned FINNEAS, which made the crowd laugh.
“I think there’s something so sincere about that kind of love that you’re showing that person – because everyone is showing love to me!” he joked, before kicking into A Concert Six Months From Now.
The standout moment of the evening was during Till Forever Falls Apart, where FINNEAS’ pianist Lucy Healey beautifully covered Ashe’s vocals. The band cheered each other on during the performance – a sign of genuine camaraderie between them, making the moment all the more special.
Overall, FINNEAS delivered what every concert should feature: the perfect opener, expert production and standout showmanship. What made the gig even better was the brilliant live band that the audience got behind and supported throughout the night.

FINNEAS proved once and for all, he’s more than Billie Eilish’s brother – but a star in his own right.
Once just known as an American Cliché, FINNEAS has never sounded more ready to claim the spotlight.
