There was a buzz in the air the moment the doors opened, the kind only a Glasgow crowd could create…
On Saturday night, American sister duo Larkin Poe made their triumphant return to the O2 Academy, delivering a powerful, soul-stirring performance that straddled the line between gritty southern rock and deeply personal blues.
The Academy was the ideal setting, spacious enough to let the band’s sound breathe and thunder, yet intimate enough to make the show feel personal. You could see their expressions and feel the vibrations in your chest.

The sisters kicked off their set with Bad Spell, featuring a snarling riff and booming percussion. It set the tone instantly.
Hot on its heels came Strike Gold, one of the standout tracks from Bloom. Already a live favourite, it had the crowd moving, heads nodding, feet tapping, and of course – hips swaying. The groove was irresistible, and the chorus hit like a wave. It felt like the band had tapped into something deeper, and the audience followed them there.
Glasgow crowds are famously passionate, and this one was no exception – the audience were fully engaged from the very beginning, and fully present for every beat.
Every section, whether a stripped-back ballad or a pounding blues rocker felt just right, and created the perfect night out for gig-goers. Both Rebecca and Megan made full use of the stage. They weren’t trying to ‘put on a show’ in the artificial sense, because they simply were the show, with no gimmicks.

The lighting design also enhanced the emotional arc of their set, and mirrored the music perfectly. Warm amber and gold tones filled the stage during slower numbers, while deep reds and piercing blues pulsed through the heavier tracks.
What made this show truly special wasn’t just the sound or the songs, it was the connection between the band and the audience. Between numbers, there was shared smiles and laughter. Rebecca and Megan seemed so happy to be back in Glasgow, and the crowd gave that love right back. If this night was anything to go by, we can’t wait for their inevitable return to Glasgow soon.
