“Biig Piig embraces the joy of reinvention” — NME
“I don’t think Biig Piig quite realises her cultural relevance” — Jack Saunders, BBC Radio 1
Biig Piig, real name, Jessica Smyth, is a fresh, up-and-coming artist who should definitely be on your radar.
Blending electronic pop, and neo-soul, Biig Piig crafts a unique sound, characterised by dreamy vocals and infectious beats. While her discography maintains a signature style, each track stands out with its own individuality.
With the release of her debut album, 11:11, earlier this month, it’s clear that Smyth has the potential to make a lasting impact on the music industry.
The Irish singer, age 27, lived in Spain before moving to London in her early twenties. In her short documentary, From Then Till Now (on YouTube), she discusses how she travelled across the city for open mic nights while developing her musical style.
During this time, she formed lifelong friendships through NiNE8, a creative collective, founded by Lava La Rue. It was through these experiences that her stage name, Biig Piig, was born—named after a pizza she spotted at a takeaway during a night out with friends.
Since the release of her debut single, Vice City, in April 2018, Smyth’s career has soared. She has since released five EPs, a mixtape—Bubblegum—and most recently, her highly anticipated debut album, 11:11.
She also boasts impressive co-signs with international giants like Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X and the BBC Sound Poll, and has toured alongside the likes of Glass Animals and Jungle.
Her music is something truly special. 11:11 showcases a fresh and distinctive sound, seamlessly blending electronic beats with soft, ethereal vocals. The combination of subdued drums and calming guitar melodies give her music a cinematic quality—reminiscent of a film soundtrack. Each track tells a story, offering listeners an intimate glimpse into her world. This raw vulnerability makes her music deeply engaging, leaving you eager to hear more.
