The emotional new track, I Hate That It’s True – which was released last Friday, 10th of April, as a potent sneak peek at the deluxe edition of Lewis’ 3rd studio album, The Epilogue, available on the 4th of July – is the result of his worldwide chart-topping career.

Five new songs, including the beloved With You, which has amassed over 62 million global listens and risen to the top of radio and streaming charts worldwide, will be included in The Epilogue (Deluxe).
Included is also a recent duet version of With You with Sofia Camara, who has recently been supporting him on tour, and a stripped-down performance of Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls.
I Hate That It’s True was a last-minute addition to the album.

Speaking on the track, Dean said: ‘Usually when I write a song it takes about a year before it can come out. I wrote ‘I Hate That It’s True’ about 10 weeks ago at an AirBnB in Bondi Beach. The day I wrote it we spent 48 hours finishing the production, rushing it over to my team and adding it onto my deluxe album. For me, the song is a hint at what is to come on my next album; in the sense of where I’m headed with my songwriting and the more acoustic raw production.’
With the original album receiving over 420 million plays worldwide, 260,000 TikTok creates, 11 million music video views, and added to Spotify’s Hot Hits Australia, as well as praise from other top playlists, Dean Lewis’ status as one of Australia’s most captivating singer-songwriters is solidified with The Epilogue (Deluxe).

The song leans into a sound that devoted fans will recognise from earlier songs like Be Alright, but with an even more vulnerable edge. It is intimate, guitar-driven, and emotionally exposed. It’s a real-life heartbreak that is still fresh at the edges, not just ‘another depressing love ballad’.
Dean Lewis’ unvarnished storytelling is what makes him such a distinctive voice in the pop industry. I Hope That It’s True is the type of song that lingers – on playlists, in hearts, and perhaps during your late-night overthinking sessions – whether it’s about heartbreak, hope, or the calm in between.

More than just an album, The Epilogue (Deluxe) is a moving diary. And fans are in for a breathtakingly tragic journey with new songs that hint to the emotional development of Dean’s next phase.
