BRIT Award-winning folk-pop singer-songwriter Myles Smith releases his highly-anticipated debut album My Mess, My Heart, My Life, on Friday, a fifteen-track evocative project that is packed with emotional integrity.
The Luton-born artist began his musical journey during childhood, performing various covers at parties and open-mic nights by the age of twelve. He grew up immersed in Luton’s cultural diversity and live music scene, which helped shape his own unique sonic identity. In 2022, his career trajectory began to skyrocket after posting covers on TikTok and by the end of 2023, he had released a number of singles and landed a milestone record deal with Sony Music.
Smith’s first festival performance on the BBC Introducing stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in 2024 exposed him to an even bigger audience. As a result, he went on to win the 2025 BRITs Rising Star Award and secured a support slot on the European leg of Ed Sheeran’s tour last year. He has since cemented himself as a defining artist in the UK music scene, and his debut album release comes at just the right time to receive a well-earned response from his dedicated fanbase and beyond.

The record begins with pre-released singles My Mess, and Hold Me In The Dark: two incredibly raw, self-reflective songs that open up the emotional sonic journey the album takes listeners on. Smith displays a quiet vulnerability as he admits his inner struggles, and reaches out so that he feels less alone. This sentiment is felt through the song’s softer folk arrangements and soaring choruses which leave a lasting impact.
Much like the natural peaks and troughs of life, My Mess, My Heart, My Life fluctuates between tunes with a feel-good melody and slower songs with introspective lyricism. Hate You is a bittersweet bop with a bouncy beat, capturing the essence of toxic attachment and unrequited love, but following it is Grandma’s Place, a stripped-back, tear-jerking ode to Smith’s grandma that explores the truth behind navigating grief and familial loss. It is clear that he is not afraid to write about the taboo, and these songs are a reminder of the importance of being emotionally honest with oneself, and others.
A stand-out in the album is Drive Safe, a collaboration with Irish global star Niall Horan, who Smith has built a great rapport with. This marks a significant milestone in the singer’s career and the song complements both artists’ individual talents well. It feels like a comforting hug from someone who cares.
Speaking of Ireland, Dublin Lights is a jovial and light-hearted feature on the record. It is an unforgettably bright ditty guaranteed to make people want to sing, dance and have on repeat, and will be taken to by fans of One Direction’s equally bubbly Act My Age.

Pre-released singles Nice To Meet You, Stargazing, and Stay (If You Wanna Dance) also appear on the album, songs that will be familiar to long-time fans. They are a testament to the progress Smith has made over the past couple of years and the prosperous future he has lying ahead of him.
Concluding the record is Gold, a track that has an infectiously catchy chorus charged with layered backing vocals that provide depth and harmony to Smith’s main vocals. It cohesively summarises and reinforces the emotional core of the album, bringing it to a celebratory close.
Ultimately, My Mess, My Heart, My Life is a collection of emotionally resonant folk-pop songs filled with reflection, growth and ambition. Taken straight from the heart and his journal entries, it is Smith’s most personal work to date and a project to be celebrated.
To support the album, Myles Smith will be headlining his biggest live shows to date, with a huge arena tour across the UK and Europe, including a sold-out show at London’s O2 Arena on 20th November.
Then, he will be heading to North America for a headline leg before supporting Ed Sheeran on his North American tour: a chance to further build on his global exposure. The opportunities are truly endless for this UK superstar.
