Packed full of country charm, and unapologetic queerness, Chappell Roan’s The Giver is finally here.

After being teased way back in October 2024, and debuting on Saturday Night Live, where the original title was thought to be She Gets The Job Done, this single serves us with flirty innuendo, accompanied by a killer fiddle hook.

In anticipation of the single, Chappell has been busy creating different personas and characters, featuring a lawyer, plumber, dentist, and construction worker; all of which feature on posters, billboards, and their own individual vinyls, which are available for pre-order on the Island Records store.

All the variants Chappell Roan has announced thus far for her single, The Giver.

Some of the billboards and posters promote (620-HOT-TO-GO) which lead to a selection of previews for the single and hilarious audio based on the different job personas—yes, teeth brushing included!

Leaning into the irony of producing a lesbian country song, shows us that Chappell is one to push outside of her own pop boundaries:

‘I just think a lesbian country song is really funny,’ she recently commented in an interview with Amazon Music.

A true, queer, storytelling single all about a woman knowing how to please another woman, ‘Ain’t no country boy quitter, I get the job done’ comes as no surprise from this Midwest Princess.

The entire song feels like a throwback to bright summer times, having fun with your friends, and exploring young love.

Inspired by the music heard whilst growing up, Chappell utilises the fiddle and banjo which can be heard throughout, and play a vital part in the upbeat nature of the single. The fiddle, in particular, rings out loudest than any instrument in the entire ensemble—a celebration of this string instrument.

In a recent Instagram post, Chappell comments: ‘I have such a special place in my heart for country music. I grew up listening to it every morning and afternoon on my school bus, and had it swirling around me at bon fires, grocery stores and karaoke bars.’

Right now, Chappell is focusing on ‘just making songs that make me feel happy and fun,’ which sums up her new single, The Giver, perfectly.
