2025 will be a breakthrough year for many rising artists, with Maddie Regent at the forefront.
On the 16th of May, she’ll release her highly anticipated debut album, On the phone with my mom, which is already generating buzz for the emerging indie-pop artist. Having already dropped four standout singles, Regent continues building momentum towards the album’s release with her latest offering, The other shoe, released on the 14th of March, independently.

From the first notes, the delicate guitar work and minimalist keys create a dreamlike atmosphere, perfectly complemented by Regent’s gentle, yet commanding, vocals. A sense of tranquillity washes over as the song’s first act unfolds, lulling you into a calm state.
Then the transformation hits: sudden, exhilarating, and captivating to the soul. The restrained introduction erupts into a vibrant pop chorus that captures your attention completely, making resistance to its infectious rhythms futile.
Once the dancing stops and you begin to listen, that’s where the real beauty lies—with Regent’s lyrics. They hit you on a personal level. Her standout lyrics ‘But I can’t resist my wanting to love you’ lead you down the road of torment, that inevitable heartbreak feeling, one I’m sure most of us have gone through.
Regent’s lyrical craftsmanship shines through on this single, creating deep personal connections—something this song delivers in spades.
Maddie Regent has come a long way since her arrival on the scene in 2021, releasing two EPs: MISS REGENT, and Girl of Your Dreams—both met with glowing reviews. If these five songs are what’s to come from her debut album, I’m sure she will knock it out of the park.
